Recycling Bin Guidelines
Bins are to be placed at curb prior to 7:00 a.m. ** on the scheduled day of collections. In cases where people move from a Caledonia residence, the containers must stay with the residence. For special occasions, if you have more material than your containers can handle, you may use a transparent bag. A bin may contain multiple items, but cardboard & newspapers/magazines may not be mixed or layered in the bins. The contractor will not empty the bins if paper items or magazines are mixed together with cans and bottles. Additional bins are available at the Caledonia Village Hall at a cost of $7.50 ea. **Bins may be emptied as late as 6:00 p.m.
Cardboard Disposal
Cardboard is not allowed in landfills. Corrugated & Container Board (such as cereal boxes and soda cases) are to be recycled and prepared as listed in the Recycling Guide.
Yard Waste Disposal
Yard waste includes leaves, brush, branches and grass clippings. Residents are encouraged to leave grass clippings on their lawns. Yard waste must be kept out of refuse. The yard waste drop-off site is located behind the Safety Building at 6900 Nicholson Road Franksville, WI 53126. This site is seasonal. Please call the Village hall for days and hours. Tree branches are to be cut to a maximum diameter of 20" and a maximum length of 6'. This site is open for Caledonia residents only.

Batteries and Tire Disposal in Caledonia
Lead acid batteries and tires should be taken to those businesses that sell batteries and tires.
Paint Can Disposal
Paint cans with paint still in them should have the lids removed and allowed to stand until all contents become hard. Add cat litter or sand to paint inside plastic bag-lined box in order to solidify the paint. The cans may then be placed in the normal refuse after drying.

Cedarburg Yard Waste Disposal Guide
City of Cedarburg residents may bring their yard waste material to the City dropoff facility which is located at the City of Cedarburg Public Works garage (corner of Lincoln Blvd. and Johnson Avenue). Facility will be open every Saturday from April 1st to November 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A "City of Cedarburg" resident sticker is required (available at no cost at City Hall or the Police Station- ID required). Materials accepted at the drop-off location include grass clippings,leaves, garden debris and brush. Residents are also able to pickup wood chips (if available) during this time.
Effective January 1, 2010, City of Cedarburg residents are no longer be able to take anything to the Town of Cedarburg compost area at 5-Corners as they have in the past.

The Public Works crew will pickup small quantities of brush (not to exceed ten cubic yards of loose volume brush) beginning at 7 a.m. the first Monday of the month from April through October. Brush should be neatly stacked with the butt ends facing the same way and placed in the parkway so that it does not block the sidewalk or extend into the street. Brush can also be taken to the City of Cedarburg drop-off location on the day and time listed above.
Twig and Branch Disposal
Small quantities of twigs and branches, weighing less than 50 pounds, may be placed in OPEN containers and placed in the parkway for pickup before 7:00 a.m. the first Monday of the month, April through October. Twigs and branches can also be taken to the City of Cedarburg drop-off location on the day and time listed above. There is NO pickup of grass clippings or yard waste in the curb.

Brush Drop Off
The access road is located on the east side of North Cushing Park Road (just north of Enterprise Road). Materials dropped off at this site shall consist of woody vegetative material less than 32 inches in diameter and no more than 8 feet in length. This can include brush, tree limbs, tree trunks and stumps that are cut as required. The public works yard is located at 900 Wall Street and is also the site of the Village yard waste facility. You may bring brush, grass clipping and leaves to the respective area during business hours Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The facility has seasonal Saturday hours. Refer to the schedule below for details. As an environmental service, Village crews pick up brush on a scheduled basis three times a year. A brush schedule is included in the calendar (April page) mailed to each residence by the Elm Grove Business Association in January of each year. Commercial contractors are not permitted to use the yard waste facility.

As many Village residents are aware, the Village drop-off site closed permanently on December 31, 2008. One question that has been raised consistently since the closing of the drop-off site is: "Where do I go with my garbage, yard waste and recyclables now that the drop-off site has closed?" This article addresses many, if not most, of the questions that have been raised on this matter.
Waste Disposal in Fox Point
The garbage or municipal solid waste (MSW), generated by propertyowners generally falls into a number of different categories: household hazardous wastes such as paint thinners, stains, and varnishes, etc.; appliances and white goods including refrigerators, dryers, and dehumidifiers; computers and other electronics; and other MSW that includes items like food scraps, non-recyclable containers and package wrappings. Much of the MSW generated by property owners can be reduced,reused or recycled and programs are available to residents to help them achieve that goal.
For those items that cannot be reduced, reused, or recycled, and which does not fall into one of the MSW categories described below, much of it can be discarded with your weekly rubbish collection. In general, the Village of Fox Point will collect up to approximately 1 cubic yard (cy) of rubbish from your residence each week without the need for a special pickup. To put it into perspective, 1 (cy) of material is roughly equivalent to three (3) 32 gallon containers. Anything beyond that, especially the large bulky items such as furniture (and yard waste which is covered later) will require a special pickup. Please call the Village Hall to coordinate special pickups. A special pickup is done on Fridays, costs $75 and includes two (2) DPW staff and two (2) pieces of equipment for 15 minutes. Items prohibited are identified in Section 24.027 of the Village Code and a list will be provided at the Village Hall upon payment of fee. Special pickups requiring more staff, time or equipment as well as an inordinate amount of material that requires an extra trip to the landfill or transfer station, will be assessed the actual cost of staff and equipment time as well as the disposal cost.
Also, if prohibited items are placed out for special pick-up, the items will not be collected and the fee may be forfeited by the applicant. Household MSW: Before throwing out your garbage, ask yourself: "Is there a better use for what I want to throw away?" For instance, food scraps can be combined with grass clippings and leaves as well as other organic material to create a composte pile. Compost is rich in nutrients and is a natural way of helping your garden grow.
Fox Point Yard Waste Disposal
Normal yard waste is picked up by Village DPW staff throughout the year. In the spring, all yard waste, other than tree waste,must be placed in decomposable paper yard waste bags or the items need to be containerized. The maximum weight for either container cannot be more than 50 pounds. These can be purchased at any local hardware or big box store. In the fall, yard waste can be placed out with your leaves and it will be vacuumed along with the leaves. Tree waste,such as branches and limbs, is chipped and may also be placed out as long as they are less than 6"-inches in diameter. Please place these items with the cut end facing the street and on an approximate 45 degree angle so that it is easier to grab the material with our equipment. Please also note that items greater then 6"-inches in diameter will require a special pick-up.

The Village does not accept or collect tires. The store from where you purchase the tires will likely accept your old tires if they replaced them with the new ones.

Solid Waste Collection & Recycling
The Solid Waste Department provides weekly refuse, bi-weekly recycling, and 3 times a year leaves and brush collection to all single-family, two-family, and condominium ownership multi-family units. The collection service is outsourced to a private contractor, and the contract is re-bid every 3 years. A new 3-year contract began January 2010 with Johns Disposal Services of Whitewater. Per City of Glendale Ordinance Section 8-3-6, all garbage shall be placed at the curbside collection point only after 4:00 p.m. on the evening prior to the regular collection time, and then all refuse containers must be removed from the curbside collection point within twenty-four (24) hours after the regular collection time.
Does the City provide refuse containers? No. Residents must provide their own garbage containers with a tight fitting lid.
During Snow Season
Residents should place garbage cans at a safe distance up the driveway during the snow season so the cans are not hit by snowplows or snowload from the plows during plowing operations. Any garbage cans that are placed in the road may be hit and it will be the responsibility of the homeowner to replace if damaged.
How Do Glendale Residents Dispose of Recycling Materials?
Residents should use the blue 18-gallon recycling bin that was delivered in 1995. If you recently purchased the home, the prior owners should have left the recycling bin, as the bin belongs to the property. If the previous owner did not leave the recycling bin, a new one must be purchased at City Hall or the City Services building. The cost is $10.00.
Recyclables should be co-mingled, except newspapers and magazines, which should be securely tied with twine (or paper bagged) and placed on top of the other recyclables in the bin.
Cardboard should be flattened and cut to a 2' by 2' size. Bundle with twine or tape into a stack no higher than 10 inches and place on top of the blue recycling bin. Residents may also bring large pieces of cardboard to the collection container located at the Glendale Municipal Yard. The container can be accessed from the south gate entrance at 5930 North Glen Park Road, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Glendale Waste Regulations
Do not rake yard waste onto the curb - it must be bagged and brought to the compost pile for disposal.
Leaves will be collected from the gutters in the fall only. The Department of Public Works does not collect leaves and grass in the curb during the spring and summer months.
The Village recommends that grass be mulched or composted on your lawn as an alternative to disposal at the Public Works yard site.
Electronics/Batteries/Fluorescent Bulbs
The Public Works Department accepts computers, monitors, printers, DVD players, VCR's, and other small electronics at the Municipal Services Facility, 675 North Green Bay Road. Electronics will be accepted at the office with proof of Village residency. There is no charge for this service. Televisions are NOT accepted at the Public Works Department.
Best Buy accepts televisions at their Grafton store, 1070 Port Washington Road. They will charge you a $10 recycling fee, however they will provide you with a $10 gift card for their store.
Household and rechargable batteries are accepted at Home Depot, 1350 Port Washington Road. There is a collection station at the Customer Service/Return counter. You simply place the batteries in a plastic bag (provided by Home Depot) and drop them into the container. They accept the larger rechargable tool batteries as well. (No charge for this service)
Compact fluorescent bulbs are also accepted at Home Depot, 1350 Port Washington Road. There is a collection station at the Customer Service/Return counter. Again you simply place the bulb in a plastic bag and drop them into the container. (No charge for this service)

Waste Oil / Oil Filters
Waste oil can be taken to Sussex Village Park located at W244N6196 Weaver Drive. The Waste Oil Tank is located at the far east end of the parking lot by the Hard Ball Diamond. The site is available during normal park hours, 6am - 11pm daily. ONLY WASTE OIL SHOULD BE POURED INTO THE TANK.
Beginning January 1, 2011 used automotive engine oil filter and oil absorbent materials are banned from Wisconsin landfills. No individual or group is exempt. The ban applies to everyone in the state including individuals, farmers, businesses, commercial or industrial facilities and other organizations.
The Wisconsin Act 86 was passed in 2009 to promote oil recycling and protect the environment.

Village Garage drop-off starts Saturday - April 3, 2010 and is open Saturdays 8:30am - Noon. Cost of stickers are 5 for $5.00 or $1.25 each. Stickers are available at the Village Hall or Sussex Ace Hardware. Village Garage program ends on October 30, 2010.

Lisbon Compost Site drop-off starts Saturday April 3, 2010 and is open Saturdays 9:00am - 4:00pm and Mondays 4:00pm - 8:00pm. Per Lisbon, entrance gates are locked 10 minutes before posted closing times. Village residents must purchase a Compost Site Pass at the Sussex Village Hall, Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm. The cost is $25.00. Compost program ends on November 27, 2010. The Lisbon Compost Site is located at N80W25354 Plainview Road.
Yard Waste Disposal
By state law, yard waste - such as grass clippings, leaves and tree branches, may not be put in the trash. Yard waste may be managed at home by mulching, composting, chipping and/or burning.

Yard Waste Disposal Permit
Using a Yard Waste Disposal Permit issued by the Village, residents may dispose of up to one cubic yard of yard waste 35 times in a season (April through November) at the Orchard Ridge Composting Site for no fee.

The residential waste convenience center is part of the landfill contract with the City of Muskego, negotiated by the siting committee. The intent of this facility is for Muskego resident's convenience on an honor system. However, abuses of the drop-off process by some residents are increasing and are unacceptable. The rules that must be adhered to are as follows:
- All residents must stop and check-in with the attendant with a proper I.D.
- Drop off site hours are: Fridays 9:00 AM-4:00 PM (closed on holidays), Saturdays 8:00 AM-12:00 PM (closed on holidays), Visits to the center outside of the posted hours are considered trespassing and subject to prosecution.
- The center is for residents only, NOT for business operations.
- Weekly residential drop-off is limited to one level pick-up box, OR trailer equal to 1-1/2 yards. Loaded pick-ups towing a loaded trailer will be directed to cross the inbound scale and be charged the commercial rate for drop-off.
- You must secure your load so it doesn't fall on to the roadway.
- No Hazardous waste is permitted. Residents can use the household hazardous waste collection site across Highway 45 at 10518 S. 124 St.
- The posted speed limit is 10 mph. PLEASE be considerate of the safety of employees and customers walking in the yard. Cameras on site record license plate numbers.

(3) MATERIALS DEPOSITED IN RECYCLE CENTER COMPACTOR. Refuse may be deposited directly into the Recycle Center Compactor. No liquids of any kind may be deposited in the compactor. Human waste, animal waste, ashes, sawdust or other potentially infectious or injury-causing materials shall not be deposited or placed in the compactor unless such material is approved by the Street Superintendent and wrapped in a manner satisfactory to the Street Superintendent or Operator. Garbage shall be drained of all moisture and completely wrapped in paper before it is placed or deposited in the compactor.
